What Should I Bring to a Boudoir Photo Shoot? St. Louis Luxury Boudoir Studio

You just booked your first boudoir shoot—congratulations! Now you might be wondering, "what should I bring to a boudoir photo shoot?"

Being prepared for your session can help calm your nerves so you feel ready to work for the camera. Here's what you need to bring when you show up for the big day.

1. Boudoir Outfits

What to wear for your boudoir session goes beyond picking out lingerie (although that's certainly important!). Before you even head to the studio, make sure to wear loose and comfortable clothes. Tight-fitting jeans or textured tops may leave lines that you don't want showing up in your boudoir album.

At Beauty in Boudoir, we give you a robe to wear while you get your hair and makeup done. Then you'll change into your boudoir outfits. You'll need 2 or 3, depending on which sets you choose and whether you're planning to borrow anything from the client closet.

Finally, make sure you have something to wear out of the studio, too. If you have a lunch date after or need to head back to the office, you might want to wear something different than what you had on when you came in.

2. Cosmetics for Sensitive Skin

Part of the boudoir experience is having your hair and makeup professionally done by our in-studio hair and makeup artist.

We can provide everything you need to look absolutely stunning for your shoot, but if you have sensitive skin, you might want to bring some of your own cosmetics.

Especially if you're worried about allergies, make sure to bring your own foundation and moisturizer. If you have any concerns, we can chat about your needs during your consultation.

3. Accessories and Props

Planning to do a themed boudoir shoot? Make sure to bring any accessories or props you want to feature.

Even if you're not planning on a themed shoot, you might want add some extras to your boudoir outfits, like:

  • Boots (tall, cowboy or docs, they are all great!)

  • Thigh-high stockings

  • A denim jacket or sweater

  • A veil & bridal shoes/jewelry (for bridal boudoir)

  • Your significant other's button up shirt/jacket/sports jersey

  • Significant Jewelry (wedding ring, necklaces or bracelets)

Accessories can bring a lot of personality to your shoot. You can also borrow some from the client closet (we also have heels ranging in sizes 6-11).

4. Champagne or Wine

Boudoir shoots can last several hours, so it's not a bad idea to come with a small bottle of champagne or wine. We provide light snacks, coffee and water (both sparkling and still). If you are on a special diet, granola, fruit, and other foods that will give you energy without making you feel too full or bloated are great.
