Beauty in Boudoir Client Spotlight: Abby - St. Charles, Missouri

Abby* wanted to do a boudoir session for years before she finally came into the Beauty In Boudoir studio. She graciously answered a few questions about her experience and why she decided to treat herself to a photo shoot.

What inspired you to do a boudoir shoot?

Doing a boudoir shoot is always something I had always wanted to do. I was overweight for years and back in 2013 I had bariatric surgery and lost over 100 pounds. I told myself if I was able to keep it off that this was something I was going to do. I was not getting any younger, so at 53 I decided to go for it and do it for myself.

What were your expectations? Had you ever done anything like this before?

I really didn’t have any expectations for the shoot itself and had never done anything like this, but had been told many times I was photogenic and should always smile because it lights up my face.

From the first moment I met Traci I knew I was in the best hands. She made me feel so comfortable. Speaking with her about what I wanted, I told her that basically she could do whatever she wanted and I could not be happier with how the photos turned out.

Were you nervous before your session? What were you most anxious about?

I was a little nervous but more excited and had so much fun doing them. I felt relaxed and feel like that definitely showed in the photos.

How did you prepare for your photoshoot? Was there anything that helped you feel more confident going in?

I really didn’t do anything specific except I got plenty of sleep the night before as I didn’t want to look tired. When I got up that morning I ate a good breakfast and made sure I was on time, as you are working against the sunlight in the studio.

Describe your Beauty in Boudoir experience—what was your favorite part? How did you feel during your session?

I arrived at the studio and met Lauren to have my hair and makeup done. It could not have turned out more beautiful. Lauren did such a great job with my hair and it looked natural like I would style it and my makeup was so natural.

During the session I felt beautiful and Traci guided me through the entire experience and what I should do at every moment. Never second guessing do I look ok, or how is this or that. So amazing!

Did you have a favorite outfit or set? What did you like about it?

My favorite outfit was the Red lace outfit. I wore this for the Sultry set. I don’t consider myself sexy at all, but in this outfit with the lighting it just made me feel incredible.

Did you do anything special after your session to celebrate?

I didn’t do anything special considering I had to be at work as soon as we were done. Washing off my makeup made me the saddest because it looked so good.

How did you feel when you saw your photos for the first time?

In awe. I couldn’t believe it was actually me. The unveiling was so amazing how Traci has you view them on a large screen TV sitting on a comfortable couch and she is able to do many things with them so you can see differences. She had great ideas and was open to suggestions.

If you were to do another shoot, would you do anything differently?

No, I would only pick different sets that I may have been debating because they all made me look wonderful.

What would you tell someone who’s debating whether or not to do a boudoir photography shoot?

Don’t wait! Just do it. You will not regret having photos taken of yourself. We are all amazing women and our jobs in life are not easy and this is something we each deserve to do for ourselves.
