Boudoir Ideas for Book Lovers — St. Charles Boudoir Studio

A boudoir shoot is a fun and unique way to show off what makes you, you. Incorporating your interests is the perfect way to personalize your photos, and book lovers have lots of options for infusing their sessions with literary flair. 

These are some of my favorite ways to bring a love of reading into the boudoir studio.

Use Your Favorite Books as Props

If you’re new to boudoir, props might not be on your list of things to include in your photos. Lingerie and accessories usually steal the spotlight, but a well-chosen prop can elevate a shoot and add a lot of personality to your finished photos. 

There are many ways to incorporate your favorite book or books into your shoot, too. If you want to be more subtle, place them in the background of your set.

Or, have one in hand to make your love of reading a focal point in your images. Additional props and accessories like a cup of tea or glass of wine, a pair of glasses, or a thick blanket can also add to the atmosphere.

Wear a Character-Inspired Boudoir Outfit

Choosing lingerie or other pieces inspired by your favorite character can also be a fun way to let your imagination loose while planning your shoot. 

This doesn’t have to take an overly costume-y route. You can focus on pieces inspired by the setting of your favorite book, or choose colors that correspond with the book's cover. 

Wearing lingerie that’s reminiscent of an outfit your favorite character wears is also great! Boudoir is all about celebrating what makes you feel confident and empowered, and if channeling your literary heroine is what resonates with you, then it’s perfect for your shoot.

Shoot in a Book-Themed Set

While adding books to the background of any set can bring a bit of literary ambiance to your photos, a truly book-themed set is the perfect way to showcase your love of the written word.
